Francisco "Chico" da Silva

Chico da Silva, born Francisco Domingos da Silva, was a Brazilian painter of Indigenous descent. Likely born between 1910 and 1922, he spent his early life in the Amazon rainforest before moving to Fortaleza. There, he created vibrant murals on fishermen's houses. Noticed for his talent, he was championed by a Swiss art critic and achieved recognition in Brazil and abroad. His work is celebrated for its unique blend of imagination and Brazilian folk art.
